There are several types of attack in Into the Breach. For all the attack types below, they must be in cardinal directions from the unit attacking.
- Melee: target immediately adjacent tiles.
- Piercing: target all tiles in a line, until hitting a high object (eg. building, mountain, volcano). (Some/all? weapons decrease in damage over distance, eg. 3-2-1-1-1?)
- Artillery: can pass over high objects, but cannot target the tiles immediately adjacent.
- Projectile: shoot in a direction, hitting the first unit or high object intercepted.
- Dash: move towards target, often pushing and/or damaging it.
- Fly Over: move your unit over, targeting units under your trajectory.
Attacks can further be modified by:
- Pushing the target and/or adjacent squares in a direction.
- Setting target on fire/freeze/shield/etc.
- Damaging self.
- Various other weapon-specific results.
