Status Effects are a variety of negative effects that can be applied to units in Into The Breach.

Icon fire glowFire Units on Fire take 1 damage at the start of every turn See related article
Icon frozen glowFrozen The affected unit is invincible but unable to move or attack. Any damage will free the unit See related article
Icon acid glowCorroding A.C.I.D. Weapon damage against this unit is doubled. All other damage (Push, Blocking, Fire, etc.) is unaffected
  • Caused by tiles coated in acid, as well as various weapons.
  • A.C.I.D. does apply to self-damage from weapons like Unstable Cannon.
  • Also doubles the increased damage taken resulting from a Boosted attacker.
Icon smoke glowSmoke Units in Smoke cannot attack or repair
  • Can be caused by directly damaging a Sand Tile (push damage won't cause Smoke).
  • Any attacking enemy unit that ends its turn on a Smoke Tile will have its attack cancelled.
  • Smoke does not prevent explosions, Vek spawns and death-effects like one that Arachnid Psion grants.
Icon grapple glowWebbed Webbed units cannot move, but they can still attack
  • Webbed units will break free if they can somehow move away from their current tile or their captor's attack is cancelled. Examples include pushing into an empty tile (even if captor also moves in the same direction), dashing etc.
  • Teleporter and similar weapons do NOT remove Webbed status.
Icon armor glowArmored Incoming weapon damage is reduced by 1. All other damage (Push, Blocking, Fire, etc.) is unaffected Multiple instances of Armored on the same unit (e.g. Abe Isamu piloting a Judo Mech) are redundant.
Icon shield glowEnergy Shield Shields block damage and any negative effects (Fire, Freezing, A.C.I.D, etc.). Only direct damage will remove the Shield. See related article
Icon kill glowDeadly Threat The weapon or environment effect on this tile will kill any unit. Shields and Ice will not block.
Icon guard glowStable Cannot be moved by any weapon effect (Push, Teleport, etc.). Stable units can't be pushed into other units to cause Push damage, but pushing other units into them will work as expected.
Icon boosted glowBoosted On their next action, unit's weapons will do +1 Damage or Healing.
  • Boosted, just like Corroding A.C.I.D., affects self-damage.
  • Deployable and spawned units like Light Tank or Arachnoid are unaffected.
VekMiteInfectionVek Mites Unit is infected with Vek Mites. Damage, fire, A.C.I.D., freezing, or repairing will remove them

Only appears in Knock Mites off the Mechs mission objectives. Removing all three grants 1 Icon stars reputation.
