This squad has obscene damaging abilities as the Leap and Unstable mechs both have powerful pushing weapons. However, everything comes with the price of dealing self-damage, relying on the Nano Mech's A.C.I.D. Projector and its signature passive Viscera Nanobots to stay fighting.
Keep your Nano Mech alive at all times, and your other two mechs are virtually immortal. Viscera Nanobots will heal a mech even if its health would be reduced to zero or lower, including Self-Destruct. This ability doesn't account for negative numbers, so if your mech's health has been reduced to a negative number, the game will just treat mech's HP as 0 and heal the according amount of HP.
For example, if your Unstable Mech has 1HP, has Upgrade I powered and kills two enemies in one attack, it will have 2HP after the attack resolution.
The A.C.I.D projector is key to killing high-health targets such as the Firefly with the Unstable Mech.
All of this squad's weapons push enemies, so beware of inside corners, particularly where one of the obstacles is a city or allied unit, and either occupy them with your own mechs or prevent enemies from moving into them.
Get the +1 Heal upgrade on Viscera Nanobots first before any other damage upgrades.
If Advanced Equipment is enabled, Networked Shielding fully negates any self-damage and voids the purpose of Viscera Nanobots.
Recommended starting pilots include:
Mafan can use the Zoltan Shield each turn to absorb self-damage, and can use the included reactor core to immediately power +1 damage each.
Abe Isamu prevents the initial 1 point of self damage from Hydraulic Legs and Unstable Cannon, allowing you to get their +1 damage each upgrades early.
To a lesser extent, Ariadne's +3HP can tank the self-damage and can also get the +1 damage each upgrades early, provided she gets kill-shots to auto-repair some of the lost HP.
Other pilots to look out for include:
Any pilot with Conservative if you have Self-Destruct.
Chen Rong and Archimedes: Lets you move one of your mechs after attacking, which is important as the Leap Mech likes to enter into enemy fire. Also helps the Nano Mech escape trouble.
Silica: Lets the Leap Mech hop twice before actually moving.
Morgan Lejeune: Lets you keep the boost in case Viscera Nanobots does not fully heal, which is often the case after getting health upgrades.
Rosie Rivets: can pilot the Nano Mech and be positioned to repair and revive the other two mechs, decreasing the squad's reliance on Viscera Nanobots.
