Passives are pieces of Mech equipment in Into the Breach.

Description[ | ]

Passives confer a constant benefit to all Mechs in the squad, without the need of activating them during an encounter. Since an action does not need to be used to activate passives, their effects will persist even when the Mech equipped with a passive is submerged into Water, a Lava Tile, an A.C.I.D. Tile, affected by Smoke, or even if the Mech is downed and disabled.

Some Mechs come equipped with Passives by default. All Passives are treated as Any Class equipment, and can be equipped without penalty by any Mech Class (except Cyborg).

Some Passives come with an upgrade or two, at the cost of additional Reactor Core usage. Upgrades are not purchased separately, they are included. Note that powering Upgrade 1 is never a prerequisite for powering Upgrade 2.

Mechs with Passives in Custom Squads[ | ]

When creating a Custom Squad, it is possible to choose a Mech which has a passive equipped multiple times. In this case, the duplicate Mechs will have the passive removed in their loadout, and only one Mech will keep the Passive for the Custom Squad.

Free Mechs gain +1 move if they start their turn adjacent to each other.
